DPP1 activates neutrophil serine proteases during granulocyte maturation. By inhibiting DPP1, Brensocatib (AZD7986) reduces maturation of neutrophil elastase, proteinase 3 and cathepsin G, making it a valuable tool for studying neutrophil protease biology, inflammatory tissue injury and pulmonary inflammation (refs. 1, 2).
